Invisalign is a great parallel to braces that is often chosen by adults who work in a professional environment.

Invisalign is a revelation in orthodontics and it serves the purpose of re-aligning your teeth and jaw using removable clear aligners

Invisalign is a great parallel to braces that is often chosen by adults who work in a professional environment.

How do they work?

Using 3d image scanning your orthodontist will custom fit you for your first round of Invisalign aligners and also do a visual representation of how your teeth will shift in the coming months. These aligners help shape your teeth to get your perfect smile by always applying slight pressure to your teeth to move them in a certain direction.

Because Invisalign is removable, there is a temptation to remove them for long periods of time but remember they only work if you leave them in for at least 20 hours a day, only taking them out to eat and drink.

Over the coming weeks and months, you will have regular appointments where you will be fitted with new aligners that help shape your structure even more.

How much does Invisalign cost?

It is nearly impossible to provide an accurate price for Invisalign without a full consultation. Each patient has a completely different situation and mouth structure. Depending on the severity of the situation you could potentially need 30+ different tray changes which will increase the cost.

Some patients also require the use of attachments or buttons. These act as little bubbles on your teeth that Invisalign can use to grip on better. You may be required to come in to your dentist to get regular inspections and check-up’s, which could also factor into the price.

Because each of our patients presents a unique orthodontic case, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. That’s why it’s important to come in for a free no-obligation consultation to find out if you are a good candidate. Saacks orthodontics in Port Macquarie and Bondi Junction also offer payment plans to help make getting the orthodontic treatment you need affordable.

Are there any major negatives?

It is possible that your teeth are not shaping the way the Invisalign 3D simulation thought they would. This will lead to a mid-treatment correction where you will receive a new set of aligners. These new aligners will extend the length of your treatment but will fix any issues that may have arisen.

While being removable is an advantage, it can also be a hindrance if you do not have the self-control to keep them in. When you receive your Invisalign aligners you will be advised on how long each day you must wear them. Typically, you will need to wear your aligners for 20 hours a day in order to achieve the best results. Failure to comply results in longer treatment time and generally the results are not as good.

Is Invisalign worth it?

Invisalign offers exceptional benefits to patients. Requiring no metal brackets or wires, it also reduces mouth irritation and oral sores generally associated with traditional braces. Also limiting the amount of dental appointments is a huge plus for many potential patients.

Besides being basically invisible, Invisalign is also removable. This allows you to eat, drink, and maintain good oral hygiene, a luxury not afforded with normal braces. We tend to find adults in professional work environments prefer Invisalign for these reasons.

It’s hard to say if something is generally ‘worth it’ but for many the simplicity of Invisalign and the end product of straighter teeth is well worth the cost. If you have any questions we encourage you to contact Saacks Orthodontics to set up a free consultation.
