Over a decade ago, Dr Eric Saacks moved his home, family and business to Port Macquarie, and he hasn’t looked back.
“With a busy city practice and a growing family, we’d been eyeing off Port as an idyllic place to put down roots and create a long-term home to raise the kids. When the opportunity came to open a practice here I jumped at the chance.”
The support of the local community quickly saw the one-person practice grow into a thriving team, and ultimately allowed Eric to sell the Bondi location to focus on Port Macquarie patients full time.
“I’d been flying back and forth to Sydney, but our hearts were 100% here in Port.”
“The thing I love most about what I do is the before and after transformations. Even having treated thousands of patients over 25 years, I never tire of seeing my patients – especially children – leave with a renewed sense of inner confidence that lasts a lifetime.”
“Most of our work is either from personal recommendations – many are parents from school – or referrals from local dentists, so we really get to know everyone. It’s that personal service, community feel and one-on-one treatment that sets us apart.”
A close-knit staff with a reputation for their caring service, Saacks Orthodontics has built up a loyal local team including therapists, hygienists, treatment coordinators and dental assistants – with all treatments personally overseen by Dr Saacks. A genuine family-owned and run business, Eric’s wife Dagmara, who is also a hygienist and dental technician, oversees and manages the practice.
While offering the complete range of proven treatments for teenagers and adults, a specialty and passion of Eric’s is early intervention and prevention.
“Early treatment can give brilliant results and provides the best long term outcomes. It’s a chance to make small adjustments that guide the jaw, correct harmful habits, improve appearance and prevent more serious problems down the track. Often you can significantly reduce the need for extractions, and the time or need for braces, if you work with kids as their teeth develop.”
The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends seven as the ideal age to review your child’s teeth.
“As a true-blue local now, I’m committed to serving the Mid-Coast community for the long-term.“
“We recently invested in a new facility (85 William Street) with state-of-the-art equipment, 3D X-ray, digital impressions and all the innovative technology from Australia and the USA.”
“If you recall the old school railway tracks from the 80s and 90s, you’ll be amazed at how sleek, small and comfortable the latest treatments are.”
Eric and Dagmara love getting into the community spirit, sponsoring the Port Macquarie Surf Lifesaving Club, Thunder Hockey, and several local sporting teams, as well as getting involved with local schools.
In line with his love of flying, Eric also volunteers as a pilot for Angel Flight Australia, who arrange flights for regional families to access specialist medical treatment that would otherwise be unavailable. A flight from Coffs to Sydney, is all in a day’s work for Eric.
“We’re here to stay, that’s for sure. It’s the lifestyle, people and beauty of Port that we all love.”
You may be surprised at how fast, discreet and affordable the latest treatments and payment options are, particularly for early intervention.
