Traditional braces

Invisible and Traditional braces

Why are traditional braces still the go-to for straightening teeth?

Over the years, traditional braces have come a long way. They are now sleeker, smaller and more comfortable. Straight teeth are healthier teeth. Crooked or crowded teeth make it more difficult to properly clean your teeth, increasing the risk of problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.

How do braces work?

Traditional metal braces are able to correct:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Misaligned bite
  • Jaw problems

And can eliminate problems with:

  • Eating
  • Speaking properly
  • Keeping teeth clean

What types of braces are there?

Traditional braces provide patients with two options.

  1. Standard metal braces made of brackets and wires.
The brackets are strategically bonded to your teeth to maximise tooth movement. Wires are then attached to these brackets to start the teeth straightening process. Over the course of treatment, which can be from 18 to 36 months depending on your orthodontic needs, the wires will be tightened to gradually move your teeth into position.
  2. The other option with traditional braces is ceramic braces.
These work the same as metal braces except they are made from a material which is more discreet and more subtle. So, for patients who need traditional braces but don’t want metal braces, ceramic braces are a great solution to get the treatment you need without drawing attention to yourself.

How much do braces cost?

The cost of treatment will depend on whether you choose metal braces or ceramic braces as well as the length of treatment. Because each of our patients presents a unique orthodontic case, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. That’s why it’s important to come in for a free no-obligation consultation to find out if you need braces or not. Saacks Orthodontics in Port Macquarie and Bondi Junction offer payment plans to help make getting the orthodontic treatment you need affordable.

How long does treatment take?

The length of treatment depends on the health of your teeth and jaws. For some patients, treatment can be completed in 18 months, and in—more extreme cases—it can take up to three years.
