Orthodontic treatment has come a long way since the dawn of traditional metal braces, now contemporary orthodontic treatments are discreet and as practical as possible
In today’s fast paced, career driven society, many patients want to straighten their teeth invisibly, but still achieve the same outcome as the results-focused traditional metal braces.
With the continual advancements in the field of orthodontics, one of the most successful and popular options for straightening teeth is Invisalign. Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners moulded to your teeth that apply mild pressure throughout the duration of your treatment.
Saacks Orthodontics offer Invisalign to both their adult and teenage patients, in the Bondi Junction and Port Macquarie practices.
Using Invisalign to straighten teeth
The Invisalign system is an almost invisible and highly hygienic orthodontic treatment for patients to achieve straight teeth. By applying an innovative approach known as SmartForce Technology, the Invisalign system has created custom aligners that are removable.
With advanced 3D imaging equipment, Invisalign’s custom made aligners are created to fit your current oral situation. Typically, three to four sets of aligners will be sent to Dr Saacks at one time. The aligners are replaced approximately every two weeks until the final position of your teeth is reached.
Part of Invisalign’s breakthrough technology is a program that allows patients to view the results of their treatment on a monitor before commencing treatment. This technology is computerised. So, the patient will know exactly what to expect and how long they will need to be in treatment for.
Invisalign is comfortable and doesn’t require you to change your lifestyle
The benefits of Invisalign are remarkable. Invisalign requires no metal brackets, wires or sharp protruding edges. It reduces mouth irritation and oral sores attributed to traditional braces.
Conventional metal braces may also affect the demineralisation and decaying of the teeth. Patients can also develop a greater risk of gum disease. Traditional metal braces also use a lot of force to straighten crooked teeth. By wearing clear aligners, these problems are eradicated.
Traditional braces are cemented to your teeth and require a dentist to remove them. Invisalign aligners are removable so you can continue to eat your favourite foods without the worry.
Crooked or misaligned teeth not only look aesthetically unpleasant but they can also make cleaning teeth difficult. Teeth that are not being properly cleaned can eventually contract periodontal disease (gum disease) and the risk of gum and bone damage is heightened. With the removable clear aligners, brushing and flossing routines can also remain the same, meaning your oral health can continue at its best.
Undergoing Invisalign treatment also limits the amount of time spent in the dental chair. Visits to Saacks Orthodontics are reduced to every month or two to check your progress and order new aligners.
